A couple of weeks ago, a respected mentor passed me a copy of a book he has become fond of. It’s called “The Dream Manager.” It sat looking at me for a few days but when I finally picked it up, it pulled me in. I mean, it really pulled me in.
The first couple chapters track a story about disengagement and turnover, and I know these things are major issues for many of our customers.
We talk about keeping employees accountable, tracking metrics, and helping our customers inspect employee work to deliver high levels of service to their customers. There’s another part that we don’t talk about as often, and that’s the role that great management and leadership can play.
When I imagine the potential impact of mixing our efforts with some of the themes explored in this book – understanding motivation, engaging employees, and helping them realize their dreams – I can’t help but be inspired.
